The workshop will be held on June 30th, 2025 at the Campus Haspel, in the University of Wuppertal.

The aim of the research project is to develop innovative raw materials and a new cosmetic product based on indigenous Brazilian plants for the cosmetics industry that can be produced in an economically viable way. To achieve this goal, the project partners including Brazilian universities (Universidade Federal de Goiás, UFG; Universidade Federal de São Paulo, UNIFESP), German universities (Bergische Universität Wuppertal, BUW; Freie Universität Berlin, FUB) and an industrial company (Livealoe) are working closely together.

At the workshop, the latest scientific findings will be presented and discussed for experts from science and industry as well as for the interested public. This event builds a bridge between science and industry. Aspects of sustainability of natural resources, social equity, social market economy, free trade including the political framework will also be discussed.

The used plants originates from the settlement “Los Canudos” in Brazil, where a group of women (called “Guerreiras de Canudos”) apply their traditional knowledge on making crafted products out of medicinal plants.

These photos were taken in Los Canudos (Brazil) and show the experimental field established by the local community to investigate and cultivate medicinal plants.

The workshop language is English.
